The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin building a foundation of trust.
We'll talk about what brings you to therapy, the challenges you're currently facing, and what you're hoping to gain from our work together. I'll also ask about your personal history, relationships, and other areas of your life that help me understand the bigger picture.
There's no pressure to share everything right away. We move at a pace that feels comfortable for you. My goal is to create a space where you feel heard, understood, and supported from the very beginning.
We'll also discuss any questions you have about the therapy process and begin identifying goals for our work together.
Standard therapy sessions are available in either 50- or 80-minute appointments. Initial intake sessions are 80 minutes to allow enough time to get to know you, understand your concerns, and develop a plan for treatment.
I also offer therapy intensives, which are extended 3- to 4-hour sessions. Intensives provide the opportunity to accomplish what might otherwise take several weeks or even months of traditional therapy, allowing for deeper, more focused work in a single session.
Family, couple, and individual therapy:
$175 / 50 minutes
$260 / 80 minutes
No, Emily Jean Counseling is a private-pay practice and does not bill insurance directly. Upon request, I can provide a superbill that you may submit to your insurance company for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Because every insurance plan is different, I recommend contacting your insurance provider to ask about your out-of-network mental health benefits before beginning therapy.
If you have questions about fees or payment options, please don't hesitate to reach out.
Both! I offer both in-person and secure telehealth appointments for clients throughout Arizona. In-person sessions take place at my office in Gilbert, Arizona.
Virtual sessions are conducted through a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform. Before each appointment, you'll receive a private link to join your session. All you'll need is a quiet, private space, a device with a camera and microphone, and a reliable internet connection.
Whether we meet in person or online, my goal is to provide a safe, supportive environment where you can feel comfortable sharing and working toward meaningful change.
Yes. I work with individuals from all faith backgrounds, and I have a particular understanding of and experience with the LDS faith. I believe healing involves the whole person—body, mind, heart, and spirit. If faith is an important part of your life, we can thoughtfully incorporate it into the therapeutic process in a way that aligns with your beliefs and values. Together, we'll explore how your concerns are affecting different areas of your life and develop a treatment approach that supports your overall healing and recovery.
I'm a Licensed Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (LAMFT). As part of Arizona's licensing process, associate therapists work under the supervision of a Board-approved clinical supervisor while completing the experience required for independent licensure. This is a routine step in the licensure process and does not reflect the quality of care you receive.
As part of this supervision, I meet regularly with my clinical supervisor to discuss my work and ensure I'm providing the highest standard of care. When we consult, I protect your privacy by not sharing identifying information whenever possible. My supervisor also has access to clinical records as required for supervision and is held to the same strict confidentiality standards that I follow.
